Hair transplant surgery is a surgical procedure, in which the live hair roots are transplanted on the bald area. It is primarily used to treat male baldness. The hair follicles from the back of the head and sides will continue to grow, even when transplanted to the bald areas. These transplanted hair roots behave in the same manner as the hair from the area where they are extracted from. Hair Transplant is the most potent, but also the expensive, types of hair loss treatments.
In hair transplant surgery, larger grafting of hair is done. In other words, it is also known as “plugs”. It’s a lengthy and painful procedure, which is done in a surgical setting under local anesthesia. To give a natural appearance, to hair, some surgeons use a mixture of minigrafts, unigrafts and micrografts. After giving local anesthesia, surgeon cuts out the tiny grafts from a small piece of skin which is removed from the back side of the head, just above the neck to place it in the tiny incisions of a bald area.
The hole to receive each graft is done either with a laser, needle or scalping. The grafting does not need any stitches, as it heals very quickly, because of the very good supply of blood in the scalp.
After few months, nobody can differentiate between the normal hair and grafts. In men, hair transplant surgery is more effective, as it gives more hair density than women. Women require more sessions, where as in men, the results can often be seen in just one or two sessions of hair transplant by giving a natural look to the hair.
